District Attorney’s Office at the Juvenile Justice Center which is located down the
hall to your left upon entering the building, 1st glass window to your right.

Where is the probation department located?: 
Westbank – Juvenile Justice Center located down the hall to your left upon entering building, glass window straight ahead.

What can I do if my child is ungovernable or truant?: 
What can I do if my child is ungovernable or truant? You may appear at the court; fill out papers and a FINS officer will conduct an interview

Where do I go to file a voluntary transfer of custody?: 
The Clerk of Court window at the Juvenile Justice Center

Where do I go for custody issues?: 
Custody issues between parents are not handled in the Juvenile Court, but in the 24th Judicial District Court Gretna LA.

Where do I go to pay child support or court fees?: 
The Payment window at the Juvenile Justice Complex. Payments in person will be accepted in the form of check, money order, cash or credit card.

Payments mailed in may be by money order or personal checks to: P. O. Box 1900, Harvey LA 70059.

Docket Number shall be written on the bottom of document. If remittance is:
• Child support - Address to Support Enforcement Division
• Fees and Assessments – Address to Collections Officer
• Traffic Fines – Address to Traffic Division

What if I need an attorney but I can’t afford an attorney?: 
An attorney can be appointed if you qualify. You will be instructed to complete an application with Indigent Defender Board personnel to determine eligibility.

What if I cannot appear on the date ordered?: 
If you cannot appear for a court hearing, please call the secretary of the section for which your case is assigned as soon as you know that you cannot appear. Depending upon the circumstances, i.e. the type of hearing, the reason for your inability to appear, and whether or not it is the first request for a continuance, the court may continue the matter to another date. However, if you chose not to appear without court approval you are subject to possible arrest for contempt of court.

What do I do if I learn there is an outstanding warrant/attachment?: 
Attachment for fees – Appear at the Juvenile Justice Center Monday-Friday before 2:00 p.m.,

If there is an outstanding attachment for failure to appear for child support – Appear at the Juvenile Justice Center Monday – Wednesday 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Clerk of Court window and case will be docketed for court to address attachment.

If there is an arrest warrant for failure to appear for a minor - Both minor and parent(s) appear at the Juvenile Justice Center Monday-Friday before 11:00 a.m.. Report to Clerk of Court window and inform them of an outstanding warrant. A hearing to address the warrant will be docketed in the section having magistrate duty on the date of the appearance.
